St. Louis traffic ticket: how to pay it, and how to keep the points off

By Road Ready Safety · Checked against Missouri law on

Short answer

Many St. Louis traffic tickets can be paid before the first court date on Case.net, by mail, or at the court at 1520 Market St., Suite 1120. The court's number is (314) 622-3231. Paying is a guilty plea, so ask about the Driver Improvement Program first if you want the points kept off.

Where is the St. Louis City Municipal Court?

At 1520 Market St., Suite 1120, St. Louis, MO 63103. The customer service window is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except city holidays. Call (314) 622-3231 or email stlccweb@stlouis-mo.gov.

How do I pay a St. Louis traffic ticket?

  • Online. For citations filed on or after January 2, 2024, use Plead and Pay on Case.net. Select City of St. Louis, 22nd Judicial Court, and enter the case number from the upper right corner of the citation.
  • By mail. Sign the plea and waiver form on the back of the citation, and mail it with a money order or certified check to St. Louis City Municipal Court, 1520 Market, Suite 1120.
  • Drop box or in person. A locked red drop box is outside 1520 Market Street, left of the main entrance.

The Plead and Pay button shows the full amount due. The court says you can stop there if you don't want to proceed.

Which tickets need a court appearance?

The court publishes a list of cases that require an appearance. Case.net shows when a case isn't eligible for Plead and Pay. If you got more than one citation, check each one separately. The court says to appear on the date on your citation if you believe you're not guilty.

What does the court say about the Driver Improvement Program?

The St. Louis court's payment page doesn't describe the Driver Improvement Program. State law gives every court the authority to approve it. Call (314) 622-3231 with your citation in hand and ask before you pay.

How do I keep the points off?

Ask the court to let you complete the Driver Improvement Program before you plead guilty or pay. Paying is a guilty plea, and the points follow the conviction. If the court approves it, you have 60 days from your conviction to finish an 8-hour course on the Missouri Safety Center's approved list.

The program covers speeding, careless and imprudent driving and ordinary moving violations. It isn't available to CDL holders or drivers licensed in another state, and you can use it once in 36 months. How to ask the court.

What if my ticket isn't from St. Louis police?

St. Louis City and St. Louis County are separate. A ticket from a county municipality, such as Creve Coeur, goes to that city's court. A Highway Patrol ticket goes to the circuit court. Use the court named on your citation.

What happens after the course?

The course provider gives you MO Form 4444. Take it to the court for a signature, then get it to the Department of Revenue within 15 days of finishing. Form 4444.
