How it works

What this course does for a Missouri driver, and how you get through it

What the state grants, what it does not, and every rule you will meet between enrolling and your certificate.

Points for the violation are not assessed

Under RSMo 302.302, when a court authorizes a driver to complete an approved Driver Improvement Program, the points for that violation are not assessed on the driver's record. The conviction itself still records.

RSMo 302.302; Missouri DOR

Once every 36 months, within 60 days

A driver may use the program to avoid points once in any thirty-six-month period, and must complete it within sixty days of the guilty plea or conviction. The court decides whether to authorize it.

Missouri DOR, Tickets and Points

A form you or we send to the Department of Revenue

On completion you receive a certificate and the DOR completion form. The DOR's own guidance is that "you or the program may mail the completion form" to the Driver License Bureau; both documents are ready to download the moment you pass, with the address on them.

The process

How it works, start to certificate

We handle the first four steps. The last one is a form to the Department of Revenue.

  1. 1

Get the court's authorization, then enroll

    With us

Confirm your court authorized DIP. Then pay $24.99 and confirm your details. Your 60 days started at your plea, so enroll the same day.

  2. 2

    Work through the twelve modules

    With us

Eight hours, self-paced, no quizzes. Stop and resume whenever you like; most people finish across three or four sittings.

  3. 3

    Pass the 25-question final

    With us

Twenty correct to pass. Unlimited retakes with different questions, no waiting period.

  4. 4

Get your certificate and completion form

    With us

Both ready to download the moment you pass, with the Department of Revenue's mailing address and your court's next step.

  5. 5

Send the form to the DOR, and to the court if told to

You, the DOR and your court

Mail the completion form to the Missouri Department of Revenue, Driver License Bureau, PO Box 200, Jefferson City, MO 65105-0200, and give the court a copy if it asked for one. Do it well inside your 60 days.

Missouri's 60-day rule

You have 60 days from your plea, and the clock is already running.

Missouri requires the Driver Improvement Program to be completed within sixty days of the guilty plea or conviction for the points to be waived. The course is eight hours. The paperwork is one form. Sixty days is plenty if you start this week, and not if you start in week eight.
