How do I find out how many points I have in Missouri?
The quickest way is the phone. The Department of Revenue's interactive voice line at 573-526-2407 gives ticket, suspension and revocation information from your record, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also email dlbmail@dor.mo.gov or log in to your MyDMV profile.
How do I get a copy of my Missouri driving record?
There are three ways, all from the Department of Revenue:
- In person. Take your photo ID to any Missouri license office and pay the fee.
- By mail, email or fax. Fill out Form 4681, Request from Driver License Record Holder. Every field has to be completed, including your signature and a notary's signature. Send it with the fee to the Driver License Record Center.
- Online. MyDMV sells records that leave out personal information and show only the driving history, such as tickets. The record is emailed to you.
How much does a Missouri driving record cost?
$2.82 per record. License offices add a $2 processing fee. A faxed record costs $0.50 a page on top.
What should I look for on the record?
- Each conviction and its date. The point thresholds count from conviction dates.
- Points in the last 12 and 18 months. Four points in 12 months brings a warning letter. Eight in 18 months brings a suspension.
- Department actions. Any suspension or revocation is listed here with its reason.
- A past Driver Improvement Program. You can use it once in any 36 months, so an earlier one may rule out another.
I have a new ticket. When should I check?
Before your court date. If the new ticket would put you at or near 8 points, that's the time to ask the court for the Driver Improvement Program. It keeps the new points from being added, but only if you ask before you plead guilty or pay.
Will my points be lower than I expect?
They might. Points drop by a third after a year without a new conviction, and by half of what's left after two. How long points stay on your license has the math.
