DSC Court Fees

School-zone violations carry an additional per-mph fine on top of court costs but no separate DSC school-zone total posted.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Signed and notarized DSC request form
- •Valid Texas non-commercial driver license (or proof of active duty/dependent military status)
- •Current proof of insurance with applicant's name
- •Signed 'Court Copy' of DSC certificate (upon course completion)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Type 3A driving record from Texas DPS (upon course completion)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before appearance date on citation; mail submissions must be postmarked by appearance date
- •Completion window: 90 days from approval to complete course and submit documentation.

- •DSC ineligible for: speeding 25+ mph over limit or >94 mph, passing school bus, leaving accident scene with damage, failure to render aid, construction/work zone violations with workers present, CDL holders
- •School-zone violations (10+ mph over): additional $20/mph over posted limit plus court costs — separate from DSC fee
- •Online payment portal available for fine payment only; constitutes no-contest plea and results in DPS conviction report — not for DSC submissions
