How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Signed plea of guilty or no contest
- •Proof of financial responsibility (current auto insurance)
- •Notarized Driving Safety Course Request affidavit (required if submitting by mail)
- •Texas state-certified DSC completion certificate (submitted after course completion)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Texas DPS Type 3A driving record
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before appearance date on citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from court approval of DSC request.
- •Drivers under 25 charged with a moving violation are required (not optional) to take a Driving Safety Course.
- •Defendant must not have taken a DSC to dismiss a ticket within the past 12 months.
- •Do NOT pay the citation online before requesting DSC — online payment constitutes a no-contest plea and waives dismissal options.
- •Court handles Class C misdemeanor citations issued by DPS, Tarrant County Sheriff, and TX Parks & Wildlife game wardens.
