Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Driver Safety Course request form
- •Copy of valid Texas Driver's License or Permit
- •Proof of automobile liability insurance
- •Signed affidavit entering plea of no contest or guilty
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified driving record (Section 3A) from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appear-by date on your citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from court approval.
- •Submit only the completed request form (with a plea circled) by your appearance date — no payment is due at the time of request; the court sets the fee after it approves your request.
- •If mailing, the request must be sent certified mail, return receipt requested, and postmarked by the appearance date.
- •Juveniles age 16 or under must contact the court directly for instructions before submitting.
- •Upon completion, submit uniform certificate of course completion and a new certified driving record to the court by the 90-day due date.
