DSC Court Fees
⚠ The $145 is the Montgomery County JP court cost to take a driving safety course — money order or cashier's check payable to Montgomery County (no personal checks).
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Cashier's check or money order for $145 (cause number on memo line)
- •Valid Texas driver's license or permit (CDL holders ineligible)
- •Proof of financial responsibility (auto liability insurance)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •After approval: notarized affidavit (provided by court), Form 3A driving record, and completed course certificate — all due within 90 days of receipt
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from date of court receipt; no extensions granted.
- •CDL holders are not eligible for DSC dismissal
- •Active-duty U.S. military members, spouses, and dependent children of active-duty members are eligible even without a standard Texas license
- •Court mails receipt, affidavit, and Form 3A after receiving request; driver completes course, gets notarized affidavit, pulls driving record, then returns all three
