How to Request DSC Approval

By mail

To Request Approval — Submit These

  • Cashier's check or money order for $145 (cause number on memo line)
  • Valid Texas driver's license or permit (CDL holders ineligible)
  • Proof of financial responsibility (auto liability insurance)

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • After approval: notarized affidavit (provided by court), Form 3A driving record, and completed course certificate — all due within 90 days of receipt

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • Request deadline: On or before the appearance date on the citation
  • Completion window: 90 days from date of court receipt; no extensions granted.
  • CDL holders are not eligible for DSC dismissal
  • Active-duty U.S. military members, spouses, and dependent children of active-duty members are eligible even without a standard Texas license
  • Court mails receipt, affidavit, and Form 3A after receiving request; driver completes course, gets notarized affidavit, pulls driving record, then returns all three
