DSC Court Fees
⚠ Countywide fee confirmed via official Ector County DSC Eligibility document: $140 covers court costs + administration fee; $165 adds mandatory $25 Child Safety Fee for school-zone violations.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed DSC plea form (nolo contendere/guilty plea)
- •Valid Texas driver's license (non-CDL)
- •Photocopy of driver's license
- •Photocopy of insurance card
- •Payment of $140 (or $165 school zone) — cash, credit/debit, or money order
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Driving record from Texas DPS (option 3A, ~$12) — due within 90-day deferral period
- •Certificate of completion of state-approved defensive driving course — due within 90 days
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request before appearance date on citation
- •Completion window: 90 days.
- •CDL holders are NOT eligible for DSC dismissal.
- •Must not have taken defensive driving for a ticket dismissal within the past 12 months.
- •Speeding 25+ mph over the limit or 95+ mph is not eligible.
- •Payment by credit card belonging to someone other than the defendant requires a written no-contest/guilty plea on file first.
