DSC Court Fees
⚠ $134 court costs + $10 administration fee = $144 total per court's Criminal Traffic page. Additional costs paid separately: $12 to DPS for driving record; TEA-approved course fee ($25–$100) paid to course provider, not the court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •DSC request form (submitted before appearance date)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of completion from TEA-approved driver safety course
- •DPS Type 3A certified driving record ($12)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request DSC before appearance date; after that, requires Judge approval
- •Completion window: 90 days (3 months) from DSC approval.
- •CDL holders are ineligible for DSC.
- •Ineligible offenses include: speeding 25+ mph over limit, speeding 95+ mph over limit, passing a school bus, failure to stop/render aid, and construction zone violations.
- •Cannot have taken DSC for another offense in the past 12 months.
- •Deferred disposition is also available; call court for cost (listed as 'special expense plus court costs').
