How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed DSC Request Form and Affidavit (plea of guilty or no contest)
- •Valid Texas driver license or permit (or active-duty military equivalent)
- •Proof of liability insurance in defendant's name
- •Payment of court costs plus $10 nonrefundable DSC reimbursement fee
- •DSC completion certificate (submit within 90 days)
- •Affidavit of no DSC within prior 12 months
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of DPS driving record (submit within 90 days)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must submit DSC request on or before the appearance date on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from court order.
- •A 2021 Dallas County JP 3-1 information sheet listed a court cost, but that figure is several years old and is marked subject to change — call (214) 321-4106 to confirm the current court cost before your appearance date.
- •DSC not available for: offenses that are not moving violations, construction-zone offenses when workers present, speeding 25+ mph over limit or 95+ mph, passing a school bus, reckless driving, fleeing police, failure to stop and render aid, or failure to stop at accident with damage.
- •CDL holders are not eligible for DSC.
- •Must not have completed a DSC for another offense in any court within the 12 months preceding the date of this offense.
