How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed plea sheet (Driver Safety Course section) with current mailing address
- •Notarization required if submitting by mail
- •Proof of valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of insurance
- •Drivers under 25 must also complete Alive at 25 course
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the date on your ticket; mail plea sheet and await court approval letter before enrolling
- •Completion window: Approval letter sent within approximately one month; course must be completed per court instructions.
- •Do NOT enroll in a driver safety course until the court sends written approval.
- •Drivers under 25 must complete both DSC and the Alive at 25 course (contact Wayne Wood, Crime Prevention, (512) 549-5069).
- •Ineligible if: CDL holder, court-ordered DSC within prior 12 months, non-Texas license, speeding 25+ mph over limit, construction zone with workers, passing school bus during loading/unloading, or no proof of insurance.
- •Mail payments (money order) to: Justice of the Peace, Pct. #1, P.O. Box 336, Bastrop, TX 78602.
