A premium reduction your insurer must offer

North Dakota Century Code 26.1-25-04.1 requires every auto insurer's rate filing to provide an appropriate reduction in premium for principal operators who complete a crash prevention course approved by the superintendent of the Highway Patrol. The reduction lasts at least two years and must be disclosed separately on the bill. The amount is each insurer's to set.

Three years if you are 55 or older

The same section entitles a driver fifty-five or older who completes an approved course to a three-year premium reduction. There is no separate senior course; it is this one.

A certificate you send to your insurer yourself

The course sponsor issues the certificate that is the basis for the reduction. We issue yours the moment you pass, in the form the Highway Patrol approves, and you deliver it to your agent or insurer. No points come off your record; that is a different course.
