How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •DSC application (Driver Safety Course – Application form)
- •Proof of insurance (must include insurer name, phone number, and effective dates)
- •Defensive Driving Affidavit
- •Payment of court-set fee (money order or credit card by phone)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request DSC dismissal by the appearance date on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days (standard TX statutory window; confirm exact deadline with the court).
- •Fridays are closed to the public as of March 20, 2026 — administrative workday only; plan visits Monday–Thursday.
- •DSC not available for: speeding 25+ mph over the limit, passing a school bus, fleeing a police officer, or if you completed a DSC within the prior 12 months.
- •Defendants under 25 must also complete the defensive driving course for dismissal.
- •Online citation payment available at govrec.com/home/orangecotx; warrant payments at paytexaswarrant.com.
