Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of current auto insurance (must show company name, phone number, effective dates, and list defendant as driver)
- •Original traffic ticket
- •Signed and notarized Driver's Safety Course Request Affidavit
- •DSC court fee payment (money order, check, Visa, or MasterCard)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Court is located at 920 E. Park Blvd., Suite 210, Plano, TX 75074 — serves the Precinct 3 area including parts of Plano, Frisco, and surrounding areas.
- •DSC is not available if you completed a course within the last 12 months.
- •Ineligible offenses include speeding 25+ mph over the limit, passing a school bus, fleeing a police officer, and certain others.
- •Email (jp3traffic@collincountytx.gov) is for inquiries only — filings and documents must be submitted in person or by mail.
- •Online portal (municipalonlinepayments.com/collincountytxjp3) is available for fine payments; DSC fee may also be payable there — confirm with court.
