Why it works well on a small screen
- Short reading pages, not long videos. Each page is a few paragraphs and an image. No buffering, no headphones, and it works on a weak signal.
- Stop any time. Close the browser and your place and your completed time are saved. There are also two built-in 30-minute breaks.
- Switch devices freely. Sign in on another phone, tablet or computer and pick up where you stopped.
- Quizzes you can retake. A short quiz follows each chapter. You need 70%, and you can try again as often as you need.

Start to finish on your phone
- Get the court's OK first. Ask your court for defensive driving on or before the answer date on your ticket. Some courts take the request by email or through a portal. How to request it.
- Enroll from your phone. Create an account and pay $28. That is the whole price, certificate included.
- Read through the modules. Each page has a minimum time; the Next button lights up when it ends. Six hours total, which is the state minimum for every approved course.
- Pass the chapter quizzes. 70% to pass, unlimited retries.
- Save the certificate and send it in. Download the PDF, add the Type 3A driving record if your court wants one (you can order it from Texas DPS on your phone), and submit everything the way your court asks.
Tips for doing it on a phone
- Never do it while driving. It's a phone, it's a driving course, and yes, people try.
- Plug in for long sessions. Six hours of screen time drains a battery.
- If a page seems stuck, refresh once. Your time and place are kept.
- Use Wi-Fi if you can, though the pages are light and work fine on mobile data.
- Save the certificate somewhere you can find it, such as Files on iPhone or Downloads on Android, and email a copy to yourself.
