Texas Defensive Driving Course With Audio: Every Lesson Read Aloud

Short answer

Our TDLR-approved Texas course comes with an audio version that reads every lesson aloud, on your phone or computer. It is an optional $4.99 add-on you choose at checkout; the $28 course is complete without it. Six hours either way, same certificate the moment you finish.

  • Every lesson read aloud
  • Optional, $4.99 at checkout
  • TDLR signed off on the audio version
  • Same six hours, same certificate
  • Quiz questions stay on screen as text

Who the audio version is for

Six hours of reading on a phone is a lot. The audio version is for people who take in a spoken lesson better than a page of text: anyone who reads slowly or tires of screens, drivers for whom English is a second language and hearing the words helps, people with dyslexia or low vision, and anyone who would rather sit back and listen for a stretch and read when they want to. You can switch between listening and reading at any point; the course saves your place either way.

It is not a way to take the course while doing something else. Sections still have timers, a quiz follows each unit, and the certificate certifies that you paid attention for six hours. Listen at the kitchen table, on a break, or on the couch, not in the car.

What it costs, and what it does not change

$4.99, optional. You see it as a choice at checkout and you can leave it off. The $28 course is the whole TDLR-approved course with the certificate included; the audio adds a way to take it in, not content you would otherwise miss. Many courses sell audio or video as a higher tier at a much larger step up; we would rather the course be complete at $28 and the audio be a small, honest choice. The cost page walks through every fee line in this market.

Unchanged with audio: the six hours, the section timers, the quizzes and their unlimited retakes, the certificate (court copy and insurance copy, downloadable the moment you finish), and what your court sees. TDLR signed off on the audio version of the course, so there is nothing to explain to the clerk.

How it works inside the course

Each lesson has a play button. Press it and the lesson is read aloud while the text stays on screen, so you can follow along or look away. Pause, skip back, or switch devices; the course picks up where you left off. The quiz after each unit is on screen as text with unlimited retakes. What the course looks like walks through every module, and the fastest-course page explains why six hours is six hours in any format.

Frequently asked questions

Does the audio version make the course shorter?

No. Texas requires six hours with at least five hours of instruction, and the course keeps the same section timers whether you read or listen. Audio changes how you take it in, not how long it takes.

Can I listen while I drive?

No. The course needs you present: sections have timers, quizzes follow each unit, and the point of a driving safety course is attention. Treat it like a podcast you have to answer questions about, at home or on a break, not behind the wheel.

Is the certificate the same?

Yes. The audio version is the same TDLR-approved course, so you receive the same uniform certificate of completion the moment you finish, court copy and insurance copy included.

What does audio cost, and is it required?

$4.99, optional, chosen at checkout. The $28 course is complete without it; nothing in it is locked behind the audio. Add it if you would rather listen than read.

Is the audio approved by TDLR?

Yes. TDLR signed off on the audio version of the course, the same way it approves the written version, so your court sees no difference.

Are the quiz questions read aloud too?

The lessons are read aloud. The quiz questions after each unit are on screen as text, with unlimited retakes.
