How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Plea of 'guilty' or 'no contest'
- •Proof of a current Texas Driver's License
- •Proof of valid automobile liability insurance with your name on the policy
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of Completion from an approved driver safety course
- •A current copy of your driving record from the Texas DPS (Type 3A)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request the Driver Safety Course (in writing or in person) by the court date/time listed at the bottom of the citation.
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date of the court's order to complete the course; certificate of completion and driving record must be turned in to the court by the last day of probation. Extensions of time are not granted..
- •Ineligible if accused of speeding 25 mph or more over the posted limit.
- •Ineligible with a commercial driver's license or an out-of-state driver's license.
- •Ineligible if violation occurred in a construction zone when workers were present, or where a school bus was loading/unloading.
- •Must not have taken a dismissal course within the 12 months preceding the citation date.
