DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs of $144 for regular zone offenses or $169 for school zone offenses. Payment accepted in person (VISA/MasterCard in your name with photo ID, cash, money order, or cashier's check) or by mail (money order or cashier's check only — no cash, no personal checks).
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Driver's Safety Request form (printed by clerk if in-person; downloadable in English or Spanish if by mail; uploaded if online)
- •Valid Texas driver's license (paper copy required for in-person/mail; upload for online)
- •Current proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance) valid on the day of request — must provide a paper copy
- •Signed legal affidavit stating you have not taken a driving safety course for another citation dismissed within the past 12 months
- •Payment of court costs ($144 regular / $169 school zone)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •After course completion: DSC Certificate of Completion (TDLR-approved)
- •After course completion: Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •No later than the appearance date on your citation; mail requests must be postmarked no later than the appearance date
- •You have 90 days from court approval to complete all requirements to complete the course and submit all documents.
- •Verbatim from court site: 'Do not take a driving safety course without first requesting by one of the methods below.'
- •Verbatim from court site: 'Make your request no later than the appearance date on your citation.'
- •Verbatim from court site: 'Once request is made, you will have 90 days to complete all requirements.'
- •Verbatim from court site: 'If you fail to provide complete information as requested, your plea will not be accepted.'
