MailP.O. Box 1424, Georgetown, TX 78627-1424 — submit required documents and payment by appearance date. Do not send cash. Include full name, date of birth, driver's license number, and citation number.
Drop Box (after hours)After-hours payments and documents may be submitted through the drop box located at the front of the court building. Do not submit cash through the drop box.

To Request Approval — Submit These

  • •Proof of valid financial responsibility (insurance) showing you as a covered driver
  • •Copy of valid Texas driver's license (or out-of-state driver's license + active military I.D. for active duty military/dependents)
  • •Signed affidavit (under oath) stating you have not taken a driving safety course for a traffic offense within the 12 months preceding the date of the current offense
  • •Payment of $144.00 (regular zone) or $169.00 (school zone)

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • •AFTER COURSE — Certificate of completion from a state-approved driving safety course
  • •AFTER COURSE — Certified copy of your Type 3A driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • •On or before the appearance date indicated on your citation
  • •You have 90 days from court approval to complete the course and submit all documents.
  • •DO NOT take the driving safety course before obtaining court approval — approval and fee payment must come first.
  • •DO NOT pay your traffic ticket online if requesting defensive driving — paying online results in a conviction and final judgment.
  • •Online portal is unavailable every Thursday night between 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM for system maintenance.
  • •Eligibility requires: (1) valid TX driver's license or permit, (2) valid printed proof of insurance showing you as a covered driver, (3) citation is for a moving violation, (4) no DSC taken for ticket dismissal in the previous 12 months (calculated from previous completion date to current violation date).
