How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license (CDL holders not eligible)
- •Proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance)
- •Plea of guilty or nolo contendere
- •Payment of court costs and administration fee
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date on your citation.
- •Completion window: Prosecution is postponed 90 days; complete the course and submit documents before the end of the 90-day period..
- •Eligibility: no DSC in the 12 months before the offense, not enrolled in another DSC.
- •Ineligible: speeding 25+ over, failure to provide accident info, leaving the scene, fleeing, reckless driving, passing a stopped school bus.
- •Motorcycle citations require a motorcycle operator's training course instead.
- •Post-course, submit the signed original certificate plus a copy of your driving record before the 90-day deadline.
