How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Proof of financial responsibility (valid auto insurance)
- •Valid Texas driver's license, permit, or proof of active military duty
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be made in person or by certified mail (postmarked) on or before the appearance date listed on the citation.
- •Speeding violation must not exceed 25 mph over the posted limit.
- •Cannot have taken a driving safety course within the past 12 months.
- •Cannot hold a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- •Violation cannot have occurred in a work zone with workers present.
- •Deferred Disposition also offered: plead guilty/no contest on or before the appearance date; 30-day deferral; pay at least court costs up front; sign Affidavit of No Other Violations at the end of the deferral period.
