How to Request DSC Approval

To Request Approval — Submit These

  • Citation/ticket
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Proof of current liability insurance
  • Request for Driver Safety Course (DSC) form (obtain from court)
  • Payment of court costs (money order, cashier's check, or company check payable to the Justice of the Peace)

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
  • Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • Request deadline: On or before the appearance date on the citation
  • Completion window: 90 days from the date the court grants the request (standard TX).
  • Judge Mike McAuliffe presides. Located at 450 Pecan St., Suite 110, Abilene, TX 79602.
  • Court is closed Friday afternoons (effective May 4, 2026).
  • Court accepts money order, cashier's check, or company check — no personal checks. Online payment also accepted for some transactions.
  • DSC not available if speed was 25+ mph over limit, 95 mph or higher, or in a construction zone with workers present.
