How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Citation/ticket
- •Valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of current liability insurance
- •Request for Driver Safety Course (DSC) form (obtain from court)
- •Payment of court costs (money order, cashier's check, or company check payable to the Justice of the Peace)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date the court grants the request (standard TX).
- •Judge Mike McAuliffe presides. Located at 450 Pecan St., Suite 110, Abilene, TX 79602.
- •Court is closed Friday afternoons (effective May 4, 2026).
- •Court accepts money order, cashier's check, or company check — no personal checks. Online payment also accepted for some transactions.
- •DSC not available if speed was 25+ mph over limit, 95 mph or higher, or in a construction zone with workers present.
