DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court publishes a $10 administrative fee plus court cost, paid to the Municipal Court when the driver safety course is authorized. The state also mandates a minimum course fee (about $25) paid to the course provider, not the court. Call the court to confirm your exact total, which depends on the citation's court cost.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Driver Safety Course Request Form / affidavit
- •Valid Texas driver license
- •Proof of current liability insurance
- •Course completion certificate from a TDLR-approved (formerly TEA-approved) driver safety course
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified Type 3A DPS driving record

- •Completion window: Within the time frame set by the court (standard TX is 90 days after approval); no extensions granted — confirm your deadline with the court.
- •Defendants must find their own TDLR-approved (formerly TEA-approved) course; the court does not offer one.
- •Eligibility: moving violations only; ineligible if a DSC was taken in the prior 12 months, if holding a CDL, or if cited for 25+ mph over (15+ mph in a school zone).
