To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Proof of valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of liability insurance (or other financial responsibility)
- •Plea of guilty or no contest
- •Signed sworn affidavit declaring eligibility to take a driving safety course (DSC Affidavit form)
- •Certified copy of 3A Driving Record from the Texas Department of Public Safety
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion — original court copy from a TDLR-approved provider
- •Certified copy of 3A Driving Record from the Texas Department of Public Safety
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •On or before the appearance date indicated on the citation; defendants given 10 business days to make initial appearance
- •You have 90 days from court approval to complete the course and submit all documents.
- •Do NOT take a driving safety course without first obtaining permission from the Court.
- •If operating a motorcycle at the time of violation, a Motorcycle Operator's Training Course is required instead of a standard DSC.
- •CDL holders are NOT eligible for DSC or Deferred Disposition — they may pay the fine (conviction) or plead not guilty and request a court date with the prosecutor.
- •DSC provider must be approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR); course may be taken online, in a classroom, or in a restaurant setting.
