DSC Court Fees
⚠ Per the official court Request for a Driving Safety Course form: $134.00 court costs plus a $10.00 nonrefundable fee, totaling $144.00. Separately, there is a $10.00 fee to obtain the required certified Type 3A driving record from Texas DPS (more if ordered online).
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Request for a Driving Safety Course / Affidavit form (Affidavit page must be notarized)
- •Valid Texas driver's license or permit (non-CDL), or active-duty military / spouse/dependent proof
- •Proof of financial responsibility (auto liability insurance)
- •Uniform certificate of course completion
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of Texas DPS driving record, Type 3A
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must elect/request the driving safety course on or before the appearance date listed on the citation; defendant pleads guilty or no contest.
- •Completion window: Submit the certificate of completion, the affidavit, and certified Type 3A driving record by the 90th day from the date of the request..
