DSC Court Fees

Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Request For Driver Safety Course form / affidavit confirming no DSC completion in the past 12 months
- •Valid Class C Texas Driver License
- •Proof of financial responsibility (current liability insurance)
- •Plea of guilty or no contest
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Uniform Certificate of Completion from a TEA/TDLR-approved 6-hour DSC provider
- •Certified Type 3A driver record from Texas DPS ($10 by mail / $12 online)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be made before the citation due date / appearance date; allow up to 3 business days for the court to respond.
- •Completion window: 90 days from approval to complete the 6-hour course and submit the certificate plus Type 3A driver record..
- •DSC NOT allowed for: speeding 25+ mph over the limit or 95+ mph, no insurance, hit-and-run, fleeing police, passing a stopped school bus, reckless driving, or other serious violations; not available to CDL holders.
- •Court cannot recommend a driving school; driver must choose a TEA/TDLR-approved 6-hour course.
- •Online payment of the citation results in a waiver of jury trial and a finding of guilt — do not pay online if you intend to request DSC.
- •'Safe Harbor Court' — individuals can appear with ID to resolve outstanding Class C cases without fear of arrest.
