Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Proof of payment of all court fines and fees
- •Valid Texas driver's license or photo ID
- •Proof of current liability auto insurance (covering driver at time of offense)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Signed DSC Certificate of Completion from a TDLR-approved driving safety course
- •Certified Texas Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •You have 90 days from court approval/plea date to complete course and submit all documents to complete the course and submit all documents.
- •DSC may only be used once per 12-month period for ticket dismissal.
- •Must enter a plea of guilty or no contest to request DSC approval.
- •DSC request must be made on or before the appearance date on the citation — do not wait.
- •Ineligible violations include: speeding 25+ mph over limit, no insurance, leaving scene of accident, passing a school bus, and construction zone violations.
- •CDL (commercial driver's license) holders are NOT eligible for DSC ticket dismissal.
