How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed DSC Request form
- •Copy of valid Texas Driver's License
- •Proof of current vehicle liability insurance
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of completion from a Texas Education Agency (TEA)-approved driving safety course
- •Driving record as maintained by the Texas DPS (Type 3A)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date listed on the citation.
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date of the request to submit the course completion certificate and DPS driving record..
- •The DSC request must be made in person at the court window; no online, mail, or email request method is published.

- •Eligibility: no DSC for a traffic offense in the prior 12 months; not currently taking the course for another violation; not 25+ mph over; not a CDL holder on the date of the violation; not a serious/excluded violation (reckless driving, fleeing police, school bus or construction zone).
- •The online payment portal is for paying citations in full, not for requesting or paying for a DSC.
