DSC Court Fees
This court does not publish its DSC fee schedule online. Call (254) 897-2272 ext. 101 to confirm the exact amount before submitting payment.
Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Driving Safety Request Form (plea of nolo contendere; includes a notary block)
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of insurance (financial responsibility) for the date of the citation
- •Copy of your citation (for mailed requests)
- •Payment of the full fine amount
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Written notice/request must reach the court on or before your appearance date (approx. 14 days from when the citation was received). You must receive the court's permission before taking the course.
- •Completion window: 90 days from approval to complete the approved driving safety course and submit a certificate of completion plus a certified copy of your 3-year driver record. Failure to complete within 90 days results in a $200 fine..
- •You must receive permission from the court BEFORE taking the course; written notice must be given on or before the appearance date or you lose the right to a DSC.
- •DSC eligibility: charged under Transportation Code Subtitle C; no DSC taken in the prior 12 months; held a NON-commercial driver's license; have proof of insurance; not currently taking a course for another violation; NOT going 25+ mph over the limit; offense NOT in a construction/school zone with workers present; did not pass a stopped school bus.
- •Deferred disposition is a separate option (typically 180 days, $50 special expense fee).
- •Commercial driver's license holders are NOT eligible, even when driving a personal vehicle.
