How to Request DSC Approval

To Request Approval — Submit These

  • Valid Texas Driver's License or permit (military members may be exempt)
  • Proof of insurance / Financial Responsibility
  • Plea of Nolo Contendere (No Contest) or Guilty
  • Completed Driving Safety Course Request/Affidavit form

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • Certified driving record from Texas DPS (ordered after court grants permission)

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • Request deadline: On or before your court appearance date listed on the citation.
  • Completion window: 90 days to complete the 6-hour course from the date the Judge grants permission..
  • Do NOT take a driving safety course without first obtaining permission from the Court of Record.
  • Course may be completed online or in-person; it is a 6-hour state-approved course.
  • Upon successful completion the offense is dismissed and not reported as a conviction.
  • Drivers age 24 or younger must complete a driving safety course as part of deferred disposition eligibility.
