DSC Court Fees
⚠ The $112.00 court administrative fee is confirmed on the court's official Defensive Driving Affidavit and is due by the appearance date shown on the citation; it is non-refundable regardless of course completion. School zone fee not stated on official forms; $169 is the TX statutory fallback.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed and notarized Defensive Driving Affidavit (due by appearance date)
- •$112.00 court administrative fee (due by appearance date)
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license (must have been valid at time of offense)
- •Proof of valid insurance at time of offense
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Original certificate of completion from a TDLR-approved Driving Safety Course (due within 90 days of affidavit date)
- •Copy of DPS Driving Record (txdps.state.tx.us/DriverLicense)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Dismissal request (affidavit + fee) due by appearance date shown on citation, or 30 days after ticket date, whichever is later
- •Completion window: 90 calendar days from affidavit date to complete approved driving safety course.
- •Affidavit must be notarized before submission.
- •Persons holding a valid CDL are ineligible for DSC dismissal for any violation.
- •DSC does not apply to: speeding 25 mph or more above the posted limit, No Insurance violation, school bus violations, accidents, construction/maintenance work zone violations with workers present.
- •Defendants under 17, charged with family violence, or under 21 with alcohol-related charges must appear in person before a judge even if otherwise eligible.
