DSC Court Fees
⚠ Per the court's official Courtesy Sheet, the DSC fee is $144.00 ($169.00 if the offense occurred in a school zone). Payment must be by cashier's check/money order (mail) or cash/card in person; personal checks are NOT accepted.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed reply form with Option 4 initialed and signed
- •Signed DECLARATION (not notarized)
- •Copy of proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance) in your name
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license
- •Payment of $144.00 ($169.00 if school zone) by cashier's check/money order or cash/card
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request (Option 4) must be submitted to the Court on or before the appearance date listed on the citation. You must be approved by the court before enrolling in the course.
- •Completion window: 90-day deferment to complete the Texas-approved Defensive Driving Course once approved..
- •DSC dismisses ONE moving violation. Not eligible: speeding 25+ mph over the limit, CDL holders, passing a stopped school bus, construction-zone offenses, and certain offenses involving a traffic accident.
- •Cannot have used the DSC option in the preceding 12 months (or be in the process of using it for another citation).
- •A valid TEXAS driver's license is required (out-of-state license not eligible per this form).
- •A telephone call does NOT constitute an appearance; you must be approved by the court BEFORE enrolling in the course.
