How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Proof of Financial Responsibility (insurance) valid on the date and time of the violation
- •A legible copy of your valid Texas driver's license or permit
- •The Court copy of your original Driving Safety Course Completion Certificate (not the insurance copy) — must be signed by you and must list 'Amarillo Municipal Court' as the courthouse
- •The 3A Certified Copy of your Driving Record from the Texas Department of Public Safety
- •The notarized Affidavit stating you have not taken a Driving Safety Course for a moving violation within the twelve months before the date of the current offense
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •The 3A Certified Copy of your Driving Record from the Texas Department of Public Safety
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Before the appearance date shown on the citation (request must be made by the deadline on the ticket)
- •You have 90 days from the date of your plea — no extensions will be granted to complete the course and submit all documents.
- •VERBATIM: 'MUST HAVE AMARILLO MUNICIPAL COURT AS THE COURTHOUSE LISTED ON THE CERTIFICATE.'
- •VERBATIM: 'DSC courses completed prior to date of your plea will NOT be accepted by the Court.'
- •VERBATIM: 'Further extensions will not be granted by the Court.' — the 90-day window is firm.
- •VERBATIM: 'IF YOU FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE STEPS ABOVE, THEN AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE 90-day PERIOD YOU WILL BE SUMMONED TO APPEAR IN COURT TO SHOW CAUSE AS TO WHY YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE DRIVING SAFETY COURSE REQUIREMENTS.'
