Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Notarized DSC request form (Sections 1 & 4 of the reply form; must be notarized)
- •Proof of valid Texas driver's license (or active-duty military/spouse/dependent status)
- •Proof of current liability insurance
- •Plea of guilty or no contest
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of Completion from TDLR-approved driver safety course
- •Certified Texas Driving Record (form provided by court)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your appearance/answer date on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days (3 months) from court approval to complete the course.

- •DSC is not available if you have taken a driver safety course in the past 12 months, hold a CDL, or were traveling more than 24 mph over the speed limit.
- •Mail submissions must include a self-addressed stamped envelope and payment by money order or cashier's check only.
