Corpus Christi Municipal Court — Driver Safety Course Instructions
DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs and reimbursement fee paid at time of request. Fee is in addition to DSC course tuition and cost of driving record.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Driver's License, permit, or Military ID
- •Proof of financial responsibility (insurance) — implied by standard TX procedure
- •Written request to take driving safety course (submitted on or before appearance date)
- •Signed affidavit for the driving safety course (sworn statement of eligibility)
- •Plea of guilty or no contest
- •Payment of court costs/reimbursement fee ($144 or $169)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Uniform Certificate of Completion (Court Copy) — submitted after course
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS — submitted after course
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •On or before the appearance date on your citation (14 days from the date of violation per the court's own page)
- •You have 90 days from court approval to complete the course and submit all documents.
- •Court's own page states: 'You must elect to take the driving safety course on or before your appearance date on your citation (14 days from the date of violation)' — this 14-day window is explicitly noted on the CC page, which is shorter than many other TX courts.
- •Court's own page states: 'If you do not elect to take the driving safety course and enter a plea before your appearance date you will lose the right to take the driving safety course.'
- •Court's own page states: 'If you are approved to take the diving safety course, the court will enter an Interim Judgment and defer imposition of the Judgment.'
