Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •TDLR-approved Driver Safety Course completion certificate (within 90-day window)
- •Valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of liability insurance at time of offense
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of driving record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Contact the court within 10 days of receiving the citation to request DSC; must request before your scheduled appearance date.
- •Completion window: 90 days from court approval.
- •CDL (Commercial Driver's License) holders are ineligible for defensive driving/DSC dismissal.
- •Defendants under age 21 must appear in person; minors under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- •DSC may only be used once every 12 months for ticket dismissal.
