DSC Court Fees
⚠ Administrative fee is $144 for a standard violation and $169 if the offense occurred in a school zone, in addition to state court costs and the traffic fine. A certified Type 3A driving record costs an additional $12.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Driver License or permit
- •Proof of financial responsibility (auto insurance)
- •Affidavit confirming no Driver Safety Course completed in the prior 12 months
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified Type 3A driving record (DPS record; $12.00 fee)
- •Uniform Certificate of Completion from a state-approved 6-hour course (submitted after completion)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request court permission on or before your appearance date.
- •Completion window: Judgment deferred for 90 days to complete the course and submit documentation..
