How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of financial responsibility (vehicle liability insurance)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Uniform certificate of completion from a TEA-approved driving safety / motorcycle operator's training course
- •Certified copy of driving record (Type 3A) from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Enter appearance and request the driving safety course on or before the appearance date (defendant waives right to jury trial, pleads guilty/nolo contendere, and requests the course).
- •Completion window: Complete the driving safety course and present the uniform certificate of completion plus driving record within 90 days from the citation date. If not presented within 90 days, the balance is due within 30 days, after which an administrative fee and warrant may be added..
