How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Driver's License (military exemption available)
- •Active liability insurance listing the applicant as a covered driver
- •Course completion certificate from an approved six-hour Texas driving school
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety (application provided by the court)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request on or before your appearance date (court does not publish a specific deadline; standard Texas rule applies — confirm with the court).
- •Completion window: 90 days to complete the course and return required documents after approval..

- •Course must be a six-hour Texas-approved driving safety course; the court is not allowed to recommend a driving school.
- •Ineligible: CDL holders, speeding 25+ mph over, school bus violations, and construction zone violations; cannot have used DSC for dismissal in the previous 12 months.
- •Allow 10 working days for processing and filing before contacting the court about a citation.
