DSC Court Fees

How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Driver's License or permit (copy for mail/email; original in person)
- •Proof of valid vehicle insurance listing you as a driver (on date of citation)
- •Completed plea form (Guilty or No Contest) — use DSC plea form on bottom of ticket or printable form
- •Court copy of uniform certificate of course completion from DSC provider
- •Notarized affidavit (required for mail and email requests only)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of Texas driving record — Type 3A, ALL pages (obtain at https://txapps.texas.gov/tolapp/txldrcdr/TXDPSLicenseeManager)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your appearance date (in person or email same day; certified mail must be postmarked by appearance date)
- •Completion window: 90 days from date of plea/request approval to complete course and submit all documents.
- •Juveniles (age 16 or younger at citation date) must enter their plea in person before the Judge with a parent or legal guardian; mail/email/internet options do not apply.
- •Drivers under age 25 who have not taken a DSC in the last 12 months are required (not just eligible) to take the course.
- •Ineligible offenses include: leaving the scene of an accident, passing a school bus, speeding in a construction zone with workers present, speeding 25 mph or more over the limit, or speeding 95 mph or more.
- •If course is not completed within 90 days, defendant will be convicted and responsible for the fine plus additional fees.
