DSC Court Fees

How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Notarized Driving Safety Course / Defensive Driving Request Form
- •Proof of financial responsibility (current liability insurance)
- •Copy of valid Texas Driver's License
- •Payment by money order (no personal checks or credit cards)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Type 3A certified driving record from Texas.gov
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: All materials must be postmarked on or before your court date; no extensions granted for DSC requests
- •Completion window: 90 days from request approval to submit course completion certificate.
- •No confirmation issued: the court states 'You will not receive any correspondence from the court stating you are approved — if you meet all the requirements, you are eligible.'
- •Ineligible if: CDL holder, completed a DSC in the preceding 12 months, charged with speeding 25+ mph over limit or 95+ mph, or other serious violations.
- •Drivers under age 25 may be required to complete a defensive driving course as a condition of deferred disposition.
- •The judge does not accept phone calls; contact the court by phone or email for non-hearing inquiries.
