How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Reply Form (provided by officer with citation)
- •Valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of auto liability insurance
- •Payment of $144 court fee ($134 state costs + $10 admin fee)
- •DSC completion certificate (submitted after completing the course)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request DSC by or before your appearance date listed on the citation.
- •Completion window: 90 days (Texas statewide standard; court does not state a different window).
- •Court convenes twice monthly on Thursdays at 9:00 a.m.; check your citation or call the court for specific dates.
- •A dress code is strictly enforced — the judge will not hear cases if it is violated.
- •DSC eligibility requires: no DSC taken within the past 12 months, no CDL, and speed no more than 25 mph over the limit.
- •Deferred Disposition is also available for non-CDL drivers in non-school-bus, non-excessive-speed moving violations; costs $134 + $200 special expense fee.
