DSC Court Fees
⚠ $144 court administrative fee; mail payment with the signed DSC Request Form affidavit immediately upon requesting the option. This is the court cost only — the driver safety course tuition and DPS driving-record fee are separate expenses paid directly to those providers.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Signed DSC Request Form affidavit (download: https://www.tahoka.org/DocumentCenter/View/259/DSC-Request-Form-Tahoka)
- •Payment of $144 court administrative fee
- •Original course completion certificate from TDLR-approved driver safety course
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of driving record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be made within 12 days of citation date (by 5 PM on the 12th day); pay court costs promptly — contact Judge Danielle Novier at (806) 561-4211 ext. 21 before your appearance date if you have questions.
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date of the citation to complete the course.
- •DSC is not available if you hold a Commercial Driver's License (CDL); contact the judge for alternatives.
- •DSC may only be used once per 12-month period under Texas law.
- •Not eligible for speeds 25 MPH or more over the posted limit.
- •The court describes itself as 'a friendly and cooperative court' — the judge encourages calling before the 12th day if you have questions about your citation.
