How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license or permit
- •Proof of financial responsibility / vehicle liability insurance in your name or as a listed driver
- •Guilty or no-contest plea
- •Completed TDLR-approved driver safety course certificate (submitted after completion)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must make a timely appearance in court to request DSC before or by the appearance date on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days (Texas standard; confirm specific deadline with court).
- •Court sessions held inside the Shallowater Police Department, 607 Avenue G — not City Hall.
- •DSC available for moving violations only; ineligible offenses include: speeding 25+ mph over limit, speeding over 95 mph, construction zones with workers present, passing a stopped school bus, leaving the scene of an accident.
- •Must not have completed a DSC dismissal within the 12 months preceding the date of the alleged offense.
- •CDL holders are not eligible for DSC dismissal.
