DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court lists $144 standard / $169 school-zone on its official DSC page. A separate $12 certified driver-record copy (Type 3A) is also required from DPS.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Driver License or permit
- •Proof of financial responsibility (insurance)
- •Affidavit confirming no DSC completion within past 12 months
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Uniform Certificate of Completion from a TDLR-approved DSC provider
- •Certified copy of Type 3A driver record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your court appearance date
- •Completion window: 90 days.
- •A phone call does not constitute a court appearance — DSC permission must be formally requested in person or in writing before enrolling.
- •You must enter a plea of guilty or no contest to request DSC deferral.
- •DSC is not available for speeds of 95 mph or more, or 25+ mph over the posted limit.
