DSC Court Fees
⚠ Payment must be a money order or cashier's check payable to the City of George West. Personal checks not accepted. School zone / accident-related citations: $135.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed and notarized DSC request form
- •Copy of your traffic citation
- •Copy of current auto insurance
- •Money order or cashier's check for the DSC admin fee ($110 standard / $135 school zone or accident)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must submit DSC request by or before your court appearance date
- •Completion window: 90 days from court approval to complete the course and return the certificate of completion plus a Type 3A driving record (from TXDPS / texas.gov).
- •The George West Municipal Court handles citations issued by the George West Police Department only. Citations from DPS should be directed to the Live Oak County Justice of the Peace.
- •DSC is not available for drivers holding a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), those who took DSC in the prior 12 months, speed violations exceeding posted limit by more than 24 MPH, citations in a construction zone with workers present, or Fail to Yield Right of Way violations.
- •After completing the course, mail the DSC certificate of completion AND a Type 3A driving record from TXDPS (available at texas.gov) to the court within the 90-day window. Failure to complete on time may result in the original fine becoming due and a possible warrant or license suspension.
- •Passing a school bus citations do not qualify for DSC; fine is set at $300.
