DSC Court Fees

How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Signed reply form requesting defensive driving
- •Notarized affidavit
- •Proof of personal liability insurance
- •Fine payment ($144 standard / $169 school zone)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Type 3A driving record application/request
- •certified copy of driving record
- •signed certificate of completion
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Submit the reply form within 12 days from the date of citation.
- •Completion window: Complete the course within 90 days of being granted DSC. Do not complete the course until the court grants permission..
- •Must have valid Texas DL and personal liability insurance; cannot have taken DSC in prior 12 months.
- •Ineligible: 25+ mph over limit, 95+ mph, passing a stopped school bus, construction/work zone with workers present, and CDL holders.
- •Court requires the request packet be sent via certified mail by law.
- •DO NOT complete the course until the court has granted permission to do so.
