DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs only — no fine due when taking DSC. School zone adds $25 to standard fee. Confirmed on court's February 2024 DSC Affidavit form.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed and notarized DSC Affidavit (plea of Guilty or No Contest, request for DSC)
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license (non-CDL; or valid out-of-state license if active US military)
- •Proof of valid financial responsibility (insurance) listing defendant as a driver
- •Payment of $144.00 (standard) or $169.00 (school zone) by cashier's check or money order payable to City of Hallettsville
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •original uniform certificate of completion (TDLR-approved course)
- •Type 3 or 3A Texas driving record from DPS showing no DSC in prior 12 months
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must be submitted (postmarked if mailing) by appearance date on citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from date of approved DSC request.
- •Affidavit must be notarized — court clerk can notarize in person, or use a separate notary if mailing.
- •DSC request may be submitted in person OR by certified mail with return receipt requested.
- •DSC certificate of completion may be submitted by email, mail, or in-person (no signature required on certificate submission).
- •Zoom court sessions available — meeting opens at 9:00 a.m. CT; defendants log in at their scheduled time.
