How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Signed plea form
- •Valid Texas Driver License (at time of request)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of completion from a Texas Education Agency (TEA) approved driving safety course
- •Certified copy of driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be received or postmarked by the due date on your citation (before your appearance date)
- •Completion window: 90 days from approval to complete the course and submit certificate and driving record.
- •Reno is in Lamar County (a Paris, TX suburb on US-271, pop ~3,300) — distinct from Reno in Parker County (Fort Worth area).
- •DSC court cost is $107 per the official city website; request must be made before the appearance date on your citation.
- •Ineligible offenses: speeding 26+ mph over limit, leaving the scene of a collision, passing a school bus, any moving violation in a construction zone with workers present.
- •CDL (commercial driver's license) holders are not eligible for DSC dismissal.
