DSC Court Fees
⚠ Official Venus DSC fee is $144 for violations NOT in a school zone and $169 for violations occurring in a school zone. Personal checks are not accepted; pay by money order or cashier's check payable to City of Venus.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Driving Safety Request Form and Affidavit (affidavit must be notarized)
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license
- •Copy of current liability insurance
- •Payment by money order or cashier's check payable to City of Venus (personal checks not accepted)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified Type 3A DPS driving record (submitted with the completion certificate)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date listed on your citation.
- •Completion window: 90 days from approval to complete the course and submit the certificate and driving record; if submitted on or before the 90-day deadline the case is dismissed and the offense is not reported as a conviction..
- •Court serves both Johnson and Ellis County (the city of Venus straddles both counties).
- •Do NOT take a driving safety course until you have received approval from the court.
- •Mailing address (PO Box 380, Venus, TX 76084) differs from the physical/office address (700 W. US Highway 67) — use the PO Box for mailed DSC documents.
